Nuon Solar Team
Nuon has been the principal sponsor of the Nuon Solar Team since 2001.
In 2007 Nuon supported the makers of the solar car Nuna4. The Nuon Solar team, 11 students from the Delft Technical University, started working on the design and construction of Nuna4 in September 2006.
Nuon’s aim in sponsoring this initiative was to encourage the widespread use of sustainable energy and innovation. Thee students demonstrated the potential of solar energy through the Nuna4 and showed how young people can contribute to technical innovations and a sustainable future.
World Solar Challenge
In October 2007 Nuna4, along with teams from more than 30 countries, took part in the World Solar Challenge, a biennial race through Australia. On the route from Darwin to Adelaide Nuna4 and other solar cars raced under extreme weather conditions.
For the fourth time the Nuon Solar Team was the first to cross the finishing line. A fantastic performance.
