Electrical Engineering

Do you have a diploma in electrical engineering? Then there are plenty of opportunities. You could be a maintenance engineer for high-voltage equipment, which means you spend a lot of time working outside teamed up with a colleague. But you can also be a technician at a power plant like Nuon Magnum, the new multi-fuel plant.

• Nuon Magnum

Marco Zut works as a meettechnicus , which is a very precise job. He needs to determine exactly where the underground technical trouble is located. Something you only learn from working with your experienced colleagues, out there on the road. Translating what is in your head to your hands.

Mechanical Engineering

Have you successfully graduated as a mechanical engineer? And are you interested in operating and monitoring the equipment in a power plant? Consider becoming a maintenance specialist! You alternate between making rounds outside and sitting inside at your computer. You're part of a fixed team that works in shifts. That means working at night and heaving days off during the week on a regular basis. 

Yassin Mellouk is one of our mechanical engineers. A job which requires extensive and thourough training, in order to be able to handle very complex systems and installations. He attended a four year course consisting of practical experience as well as education at Nuon Techno, our own technical training centre.

Installation technology

If you studied installation technology, there are excellent prospects at Network Services, a unit of Nuon Warmte. You could consider becoming an installations supervisor, for example, or a work planner. You would work with city heating grids that deliver residual heat from industrial installations to customers.

Telematics

Do you have a diploma in telematics? If so, you can specialise in M2M applications and monitor the operation of installations. For example at present you could be involved in a project involving the implementation of an innovative automated metre read-out system.
