Using your mbo diploma to make a career for yourself
As an mbo-level applicant with a technical background you will be in your element with us. If you have a diploma in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering or installation technology, you can get cracking at once.

Electrical Engineering
Do you have a diploma in electrical engineering? Then there are opportunities aplenty, as a maintenance mechanic at a high-voltage installation for example. You would work in a team and you would be outside a lot. Or maybe you could become an engineer at a power plant. You would then be responsible for ensuring optimal availability of the units. At Nuon Magnum for instance, the new multi-fuel power plant.
Mechanical Engineering
Did you study mechanical engineering? And would you like to operate and monitor the units of a power plant? You can. As a maintenance specialist, one moment you are making outside inspections, the next you are sitting at your computer again. You are part of a permanent team doing continuous shift work. That means working regularly at night and having days off during the week.
Yassin Mellouk is one of our mechanical engineers. He received four years of training from Nuon, but practical and theoretical. For this work you really need to be well trained, because you are dealing with very complicated systems. Nuon has its own education centre where all kinds of simulation training and courses are given.
Installation technology
If you have had an education in installation technology you will join the Heat department, as a machinery supervisor or as work planner. There you will be involved with district heating networks that supply residual heat from industrial installations to customers.
