Social involvement
Our products affect the heart of society. After all, everyone needs energy. That’s why social engagement is high on the agenda at Nuon. One way that we express this engagement is in a very accommodating disconnection policy: we would rather help than deny customers energy.
Even outside work, Nuon fosters social engagement among its employees by supporting them in carry out a variety of social initiatives. When you work for us you can also make a contribution to society. Nuon has a platform for the supply and demand of voluntary workers and encourages employees who carry out social activities in their spare time
Nuon has considerable ambitions in terms of society and the environment and wants to be involved in social programmes. Nuon considers it important for its employees to increase their involvement in society, thereby developing themselves in a different direction than in their everyday work. Nuon is also keen to make a contribution to the society in which we operate.
As well as encouraging its employees, Nuon works with several social organisations.
Social organisations
Nuon works with several social organisations like FRES (Foundation for Rural Energy Services). In addition, we are actively involved in the work experience project Step2Work, Step2Save, the Moroccan Dutch Leadership Institute and Stichting Giving Back.
Step2Work
You want to do our bit to reduce youth unemployment, via the work experience project Step2Work. Unemployed youngsters are offered a work experience placement at Nuon, so they can get better opportunities on the labour market. The project also provides professional training and supervision by a Nuon employee.
Step2Save
With the Step2Save-programme Nuon takes on the selected jobseekers for a year to become energy advisers via a ‘learning track in vocational education’. The team of energy advisers travel to their destination in the Step2Save camper van. The participants go along to homes in the social housing sector, giving no-obligation advice on energy saving and handing over a free ‘energy box’ with energy-saving articles.
