Jamal Ghabri
Operations Team Leader Almere

What makes you most enthusiastic about working for Vattenfall/Nuon?
'I’m very enthusiastic about district heating. This product makes an enormous contribution to reducing CO2. Vattenfall is the biggest district heating company in Europe and I get great satisfaction from helping the environment in this way.'
How would you describe your typical day at work?
'As the team leader of a group of operations mechanics I first want to know whether there are any unusual interruptions or whether any activities are taking place that could affect the heating supply. After that, all that’s needed is generally a short chat with the people and then you do whatever’s necessary... '
'A typical day: improvement projects within Nuon Heat, discussions with colleagues, group meetings, maintenance budgets and strategies, personnel-related matters etc.'
What do you consider most important for ensuring that your work will produce good results?
'In order to put in a good performance I’m dependent on the people in the organisation. What I mean is that the people around me also have to enjoy their work and have to feel that they actually make a difference. In my view, communicating honestly and openly with people is essential if you are to continue performing well.'
What do you think is the great benefit of working at Vattenfall/Nuon?
'People development has a high priority at Nuon and I really like that. Nuon understands very well that it can get the greatest possible benefit by investing in its staff.'

'There are lots of opportunities for development within Nuon. In fact, I’m a good example of that. This is my third job in two and a half years. The sky’s the limit if that’s what you want and enjoy what you do!!'
