Programme
The Management Traineeship takes a year. During that period you get to know our company, gain experience and widen your knowledge.
Operational Experience
For the first two weeks you spend time on the shop floor in the various divisions during the Operational Experience. You will see that Nuon is not only a producer and supplier of energy but a trader too. In that way you get to know all the aspects of our company. You see what goes on at night in a power plant, you hit the road with the sales force, you get a guided tour of the trading floor and you work alongside a call centre operative. In this way you learn about Nuon, each other, your colleagues, the culture, and potential assignments and principals. A kick-start of a challenging and dynamic year!
Assignments
During your traineeship you carry out two different assignments. You might manage a project, for instance, or occupy a corporate service position. Each of these assignments lasts around six months.
You yourself are responsible for the choice from one of the available projects or positions. That's a challenge but it also gives you the freedom to choose an assignment that suits your development, ambitions and possibilities. For every assignment you enter into a performance contract, in which agreements are laid down about the results to be attained.
Training
During your traineeship you will follow an intensive training programme. You follow most of the training courses with other trainees. These courses are oriented towards knowledge (e.g. about the energy world) as well as skills (such as management skills) and attitudes (e.g. communication and group processes). Most of the training courses are given by well-known external parties and agencies.
Supervision
As a trainee you are of course not on your own. During each assignment a supervisor will monitor your daily work. In addition, a mentor and a young talent manager will be closely involved in your development throughout the traineeship. The individual mentor is your sparring partner and/or counsellor. The young talent manager helps you to set your longer-term course. He/she also coordinates the entire process and helps you to select a suitable further assignment.
Finally, you are part of a trainee pool. You get together often with your fellow-trainees, you discuss issues of mutual interest and you take part in lots of fun activities.
Completion
After a year you will be ready to get to work as a fully-fledged as a team leader, corporate service officer, project leader or sales manager. Together with you, we will then go in search of a job that really suits you.
Following the traineeship we remain involved in your development in the form of coaching, training and intervision. This is because Nuon considers it essential that you continue learning and growing after your traineeship.
