To be able to continue supply energy in a responsible manner now and in the future, Nuon is investing in innovative projects. Nuon uses the knowledge gained from these projects in its efforts to use energy as efficiently as possible, to generate as much power as possible from wind, sun and water and to use fossil fuels as cleanly as possible.
Heat transport pipeline Diemen - Almere
At the beginning of April 2011, Nuon started laying a heat transport pipeline under the IJmeer between the Diemen power plant and the city of Almere. It is the first time that a heat transport pipeline 8.5-km long will have been laid under water. The pipeline lies 1.5 metres under the bed of the IJmeer.
Less CO2 in the atmosphere
Nuon is designing its new power plants in such a way that they will be able to capture CO2 in the future. CO2 emission is seen as the principal cause of global warming.
State-of-the-art power plant
A hypermodern power plant, equipped with innovative technology allowing several fuels such as gas, biomass and coal to be used.
Driving on electricity within reach
Nuon intends contributing to sustainable mobility by providing charging stations for electric cars.
Sea wind: clean energy
Around 100,000 households no longer need to use energy from fossil fuels thanks to this clean alternative of wind energy from the offshore wind farm at Egmond aan Zee.
