Foundation Borg
Friday 7 May 2010 saw the launch of the Foundation ‘Borg - CO2-Initiatief Noord-Nederland’. This foundation has been set up to coordinate preparations for capturing, transporting and storing CO2 in the North of the Netherlands.
CO2 storage is part of the climate policy of the Dutch government. Among other things, Borg will focus on the supply of information about CO2 storage in the north of the country and on the dialogue with all the stakeholders.
RWE, Nuon, Gasunie, NAM, Groningen Seaports, Energy Valley and Noordelijke Ontwikkelings Maatschappij are the companies that have joined forces in Borg. Acknowledging each other’s responsibility, Borg will seek to cooperate with the Ministries of Economic Affairs and VROM where possible and beneficial.
The provinces of Drenthe and Groningen are involved in the initiative as well. They recognise the importance of a good information supply about CO2 capture, transport and storage.
