Location Nuon Magnum
Eemshaven, in the province of Groningen, has been chosen as the site for Nuon Magnum because it is an ideal, spacious location with a modern seaport and good infrastructure.
For the seaport, arrangements have been made with the authorities in the province of Groningen and the Ministry of Public Works and Water Management. In addition, former Minister Carla Peijs of Public Works and Water Management has said that the government is willing to deepen the channel to Eemshaven once a number of legal conditions have been satisfied. This means that deep-draughted vessels carrying fuel will be able to enter the port. This is a precondition for the continuity of the new power plant.
