December 2009: Groundbreaking
The construction of Nuon Magnum has been in full swing again since September. In December this was celebrated symbolically with the driving of the 2,460th pile.
July 2009: Restarting the construction
Nuon expects to restart the construction of Nuon Magnum in October 2009. In May 2008 the construction was halted due to delay in the permit procedures. Later on Nuon decided to freeze the construction work for a period of one year. The activities are now focused on restarting the construction.
March 2009: Major strides made
With Nuon Magnum we are heading in a new direction in order to arrive at an innovative power plant. So it is no surprise that we are encountering obstacles on our way. Much has happened concerning Nuon Magnum in the past months, particularly in terms of licensing.

July 2008: Nuon applies innovative pile-driving method
Preparatory work for the construction of Nuon Magnum commenced in April. At the moment construction is at a standstill due to the suspension of the Nature Conservancy Act permit. Pile-driving work will continue as soon as possible. Nuon will be applying an innovative type of damped pile-driving in order to cause the least possible disturbance due to noise for its neighbours.

February 2008: Nuon chooses Mitsubishi to build Nuon Magnum
On 1 February, the Board of Management of Nuon signed the contract with the Japanese firm Mitsubishi for the construction of the gas-fired part of Nuon Magnum.
