Nature is bursting with energy!
Since 2000, Nuon and Natuurmonumenten have been working together on projects to make the energy management of Natuurmonumenten sustainable. For this purpose Nuon supplies Natuurmonumenten with totally renewable energy from the sun, wind and water. In addition, Natuurmonumenten generates a lot of its own energy with solar panels, heat pumps, wind turbines and solar boilers installed by Nuon.
This summer there will be a joint campaign entitled ‘Laad jezelf op’ (Recharge your batteries). In this campaign Nuon and Natuurmonumenten ask you to focus attention on energy in and from nature. Laad jezelf op refers on the one hand to the personal energy you draw from an invigorating walk in the woods and on the other hand to the renewable energy that is available from the sun, wind and water.
Activities
The campaign includes an online game. Participants can win a summer walk with Dutch celebrities. The walks will take place in June and will be led by Bridget Maasland, Jort Kelder, Vincent Bijlo, Lodewijk Hoekstra, Harm Edens, Victoria Koblenko and Bas Westerweel. They will take the walkers to their favourite part of the Dutch countryside and will talk about how nature helps them to recharge their batteries.
In addition, on 27 June a family day is to be organised in three visitors' centres of Natuurmonumenten. Here visitors can see how renewable energy is generated and used.
Solar charger
The special Nuon-Natuurmonumenten solar charger can be obtained at a discount via the website. Using this lightweight solar charger you can recharge appliances such as a mobile phone or iPod without electricity. The solar charger converts the sun’s energy into energy for your mobile devices. The solar charger is made of recycled material and so is extra sustainable. Part of the revenue goes to Natuurmonumenten.
