Pilot with CO2 capture
Nuon has started a pilot at the Willem Alexander power plant in Buggenum to capture CO2.
Because the Willem-Alexander Power Plant uses gasification technology, it is the ideal location to test pre-combustion CO2 capture. Coal gasification enables CO2 to be captured before the combustion process. This enables a better environmental performance, meaning coal can be used in a cleaner and more efficient way.
With the pilot in Buggenum, Nuon intends to make CO2 capture technology suitable for the energy sector. The knowledge and experience can then be applied in the new power plant Nuon Magnum in the Eemshaven in Groningen.
