- How will Nuon and Vattenfall work together?
Nuon will be Vattenfall's third regional business group and Vattenfall will have full operational control from the closing date. Vattenfall will take initially a minority interest of 49% and will acquire the remaining shares over a six-year period.
- Has Nuon been unbundled already?
Yes, on 30 June 2009, a day before the closing, Nuon's production and supply company was separated from its grid company, which operates under the Alliander name.
- How will the Dutch interests be assured?
Nuon and Vattenfall will provide good security of supply in the Netherlands. Concrete agreements have been made about how the public interests, such as employment, security of supply and investments in renewables, will remain assured in the Netherlands.
- Will anything change for Nuon's customers now?
No, nothing will change for the customers. The contract, the contacts and our service will remain unchanged.
- What does the partnership mean for the energy bill?
The energy prices are mainly determined by the raw materials costs and market developments. Nuon will set its prices on the basis of these factors, just as it does now. It is expected that this step will enable Nuon to continue offering competitive rates in the future.
- Will Nuon keep its name?
Yes, the Nuon brand name will be retained in the Netherlands in the coming four years.
- How can we reach Nuon now?
Nuon can still be reached for queries and comments via the same channels. All telephone numbers and (internet) addresses remain the same.
- What role will Nuon get in Vattenfall?
Nuon will be Vattenfall’s third regional 'business group' responsible for driving growth in the Benelux.
- What is Nuon's Board of Management going to do?
Nuon’s Board of Management will remain in place and will also be represented in Vattenfall’s Executive Group Management.
- What are the implications for the employees?
The combination provides a strong platform for the development of the employees. Both companies will respect the existing employment terms and there will be no lay-offs as a result of this partnership.
- Will the head office remain in Amsterdam?
Certainly, the head office will remain in Amsterdam and the regional offices will also be kept at their current locations.
- Will the products and services stay the same?
Yes, and Nuon will continue to develop new products and services to offer customers energy that is affordable, reliable and as clean as possible. Nuon will now do that together with Vattenfall, so that they can jointly offer customers the best solutions for energy efficiency.
- What are the implications for the development of renewables?
A lot. Nuon and Vattenfall are jointly the European number 1 in off-shore wind energy and are committed to making significant investments in this field. Together they can realise the ambition of 15 TWh of wind energy by 2015. Moreover, Vattenfall and Nuon are engaged in innovative renewables projects. Both companies have a strong presence in the heating market.
- What will happen with the plans for new generation capacity that Nuon has announced?
All investments that Nuon has already decided to make will continue as normal. Together Vattenfall and Nuon are going to invest a lot more in new clean energy generation. CO2 capture and storage is another area where Vattenfall and Nuon are a perfect fit; both already invest in this technology.

In line with Nuon’s strategic agenda, investments will be made in strengthening the gas position (production, storage and sourcing), renewables (wind, biomass), CO2, capture, cleaner production capacity and the development of supplementary energy saving products and services.
