General rules for every Nuon employee

  • We encourage each other to act in a socially responsible manner and call each other to account accordingly.
  • An agreement is an agreement.
  • Inside and outside Nuon we treat each other with respect. Our employees respect the personal integrity of other people.
  • We respect the law and culture of the countries in which we operate.
  • We work in accordance with the OESO (OECD) ‘Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises’ and the 'Fundamental Human Rights Conventions of the International Labour Organisation (ILO).
  • We encourage our business partners to act in a socially responsible manner.
  • We do business honestly. We ensure that we remain independent in our business dealings.
  • We deal carefully and honourably with information and data that we manage as an organisation.
  • We use Nuon business resources exclusively for Nuon business purposes.

  • We develop products and services for our customers that are designed to improve the customers’ position.
  • It is easy for our customers to reach us.
  • We deal promptly and correctly with customers’ queries and complaints.

Our employees

  • As colleagues we work together to ensure a good work atmosphere, mainly by dealing with each other openly, honestly and respectfully.
  • We invest in people by offering opportunities for development and education.
  • Nuon employees have the responsibility and get the room to develop their talents.
  • New ideas are always welcome and are appreciated, even if they turn out not to be applicable.
  • Employees are kept well informed of the state of affairs in Nuon and of proposed changes; there is room for discussion about the consequences of changes.
  • A mistake is not a disgrace but an opportunity to learn.
  • Working at and for Nuon means working in a safe and healthy manner.

Our shareholders

  • Nuon’s activities are geared to adding value for the shareholders; that value can have both a financial and a broader social significance.
  • We check that we do what we say and are willing to accept responsibility for it. To this end, we have clear control, auditing and reporting procedures for financial, social, environmental and other issues.

  • Through its tasks and responsibilities Nuon intends making a contribution to a cleaner world.

  • We undertake only those activities for which we can be held publicly accountable.
  • Nuon has an environmental policy whose aim is to continually improve our environmental performance and reduce the environmental load. We react critically to the environmental performance of our suppliers, business partners, contractors and subcontractors.
