Introduction
Corporate Governance is about managing a company, being held accountable and about conducting objective supervision over the compliance with and enforcement of the relevant regulations within the company. Transparency and integrity are key.
The discussions about corporate governance in the Netherlands have resulted in 'The Dutch Corporate Governance Code' of 9 December 2003, better known as the 'Tabaksblat Code. Though the Tabaksblat Code is applicable to listed Dutch companies, Nuon decided to voluntarily apply the code, insofar as relevant, with effect from 1 January 2005.
