Energy saving
Economic energy use is of essential importance. Energy saving is an effective way of reducing the pressure on security of supply and mitigating the impact on the climate.

Energy saving for consumers
The website www.nuonenergiebesparen.nl gives information and tips for saving energy at home. By changing your energy behaviour and taking technical and constructional measures (e.g. insulation), you can achieve enormous savings on your energy bill. The more people do this, the greater the benefit for the environment.
The VijfMinutenCheck (Five-Minute Check) and the Nuon Verbruikstest (Consumption Test) give you insight into your consumption compared to the average consumption of similar households. The Verbruiksmail (Consumption Email) provides you with information on the ideal consumption for the heating season, taking account of the weather forecast in that particular period.

Energy saving in the public space
In 2006, Nuon carried out research into possible savings on lighting in the public space. This revealed that major advances can be made by:
- Replacing existing fixtures (the lamp plus suspension system) with new systems
- Dimming lighting wherever and whenever possible
- Smart switching: being selective in what should or should not be lit
These measures can jointly yield a saving of 12%, which is over 47,000 tons of CO2.
Raising energy awareness among children
Children are the energy consumers of the future. Children today take energy for granted Ð more so than previous generations. So we are keen to make children more energy aware. To this end, we distribute education kits at schools and invest in easy-to-understand information campaigns.
Natuurlijk Energie!
Natuurlijk energie! (Natural Energy!) is a multi-media teaching kit for primary school pupils. It contains lots of information about energy, fascinating experiments and fun games.
Online media center
