Labour market
Nuon invests in binding young, mainly technical people to the company at a young age through internships and work experience programmes. This benefits the company; we also deploy our knowledge, resources and organisation as a training school for others and we help young people to explore the labour market.
Budding technicians
Alongside its trainee programmes Nuon focuses mainly on technical talent, which is hard to find. To interest technicians at any early stage in a job with Nuon, arrangements have been made with establishments such as ROCs (regional training centres). Nuon offers youngsters with an supplementary technical education a guaranteed job and bears the education costs. It is also very important for Nuon to retain and to continue investing in experienced technicians.
Work experience programmes
Nuon runs several work experience programmes. The most extensive of them is Step2Work. This programme gives young jobseekers with a labour market disadvantage a work experience placement with appropriate vocational training at Nuon or one of its suppliers, associate companies or subsidiaries.

Such a programme provides many benefits: the participants take a big step towards socio-economic independence and their supervisors develop their coaching and management skills. This creates a lot of positive energy in the organisation. Roughly half the participants who complete the programme successfully then find a permanent job with Nuon.
