Our employees

Our organisation’s values are: respect, customer focus, innovation and results. We encourage our staff to develop themselves on that basis. Development is therefore an important part of our employee evaluation system. As an employer, Nuon aims to reflect the composition of society in terms of expertise, age and gender balance.

Values and competences

In 2008, we defined the new core values as respect, customer focus, innovation and results. These core values reflect what we as an organisation want to be. They have been further elaborated in the form of core competencies which offer our employees tangible guidance for their daily actions and provide the basis for their targets and assessment. What binds us as an organisation is not just what we do, but also how we do it and what we choose not to do.

Results
We believe that Nuon needs to be partly results-driven in order to be successful – which means that our employees must take responsibility and actively pursue results.

Innovation
We regard innovation as a key pillar of our ability to be and remain successful in the future. We regard the creativity of our staff and interdivisional and interdepartmental cooperation as important components of this.

Customer Focus
Without customers, no integrated business operations or long-term focus are possible. It is therefore important that all employees are aware of their specific contribution to our services and keep a long-term view in mind in that regard.

Respect
Respect is a basic condition underlying all that we do. Integrity and self-development are other important factors.

Nuon Academy

Nuon employees can follow training courses at our own Nuon Academy. The programmes offered are subdivided into skills training, management training, functional training, technical and safety training and ICT training. Nuon also offers a number of management development programmes.

Duurzaam Fit

Healthy employees develop and perform better, as does the organisation as a whole. The basic aim of the Duurzaam Fit health programme is to increase the resilience, health and fitness of our employees. This reduces the risk of sickness and absenteeism. In the event of complaints, sickness or absenteeism, targeted efforts are undertaken within the Duurzaam Fit programme to remedy physical or mental health problems, thus enabling the employee to return to work faster and more effectively.

Diversity

Diversity

A heterogeneous staff composition makes the company more flexible. On top of this, diverse teams are more innovative and better able to respond to complex issues.

Diversity also means diversity in terms of age. Nuon therefore pursues strategic staff planning to achieve a balanced age distribution within the company. We thereby respond to the needs and concerns of different generations.

We actively steer for a higher percentage of women in management development programmes. WINergy, Nuon's women’s network, has now been active for some years. WINergy organises many activities. Nuon also has a youth organisation, MegaWatt.
