Nuon as an energy company

It is our ambition to be CO2-neutral by 2050, which is why we are pursuing renewable production capacity and sustainable energy technologies. In addition, we are helping our customers to save energy.

Nuon is committed to achieving a sustainable energy supply. As we move toward this situation, Nuon puts security of supply first and attaches great value to innovation. In all our activities, we aim to minimise the adverse effects on our environment. We also accept our responsibility in the value chain by dedicating ourselves to limiting the detrimental effects of the raw materials, products and services that we purchase from suppliers. We attach great importance to customer appreciation of our services and work continuously on improving it.

We do everything possible to reduce the adverse effects of our business operations on the environment and society.
  • Chain responsibility
Our responsibilities as a producer and supplier of energy do not stop at our front door.
  • Service provision
We aim for a balance between good service for everyone and extra attention to individual persons and companies in specific situations.

Clean and Economical

Our ambitions and activities support the objectives of the Dutch government's working programme 'Schoon en Zuinig' (Clean and Economical). The government is aiming for energy savings of 2% per year with effect from 2011, an increase in the share of renewable energy to 20% by 2020 and a reduction in greenhouse gas emissions, notably CO2, by 30% in 2020 compared with 1990. The government is pursuing these aims through energy-saving measures, increased renewable production capacity, utilisation of residue heat and the cleanest possible use of fossil fuels.

With these energy supply goals in mind, the government and the energy companies jointly set up a sector agreement in 2008, outlining the commitments and responsibilities of both. The sector agreement is a joint roadmap leading to a reliable, affordable and clean energy supply for the future.
