Stakeholder dialogue

Stakeholder dialogue

Nuon is building a corporate culture that inherently requires an open and constructive relationship with all parties within our industry and community. We see this as a continuous learning process in which we seek to create a balance between our own views and the opinions of the many interest groups we deal with.

In so doing, we strive to provide transparency to our stakeholders and to nurture strong community involvement among employees. We are convinced that involving stakeholders in our activities leads to practical solutions that enjoy a broad base of support.

Energy as a basic necessity

Energy companies supply a basic necessity and are thus at the heart of society. Nuon is active in most of the energy chain, operates in a global market and takes account of the global environmental problem. We are well aware that our responsibilities do not end at our own front door. Good contacts with all stakeholders are therefore essential.

Stakeholders

Nuon maintains relationships on various levels with the following stakeholder groups: clients, employees, shareholders, politicians, non-governmental organisations (NGOs) and the local environment. This is often a continuous process, including the consultation of customer panels, shareholders’ meetings, working visits by local or national political delegations and newsletters to local residents. More specific talks are also conducted with stakeholders in relation to large projects, such as the Nuon Magnum power plant. To this end, we are working towards a social covenant with several parties in the North of the Netherlands.

An example of the result of stakeholders consultations with municipal health authorities, emergency debt agencies and credit institutions in the context of terminating energy supply contracts are presented under Services.
