Nuon stands for a reliable, affordable and optimally sustainable energy supply. In pursuing these goals it is not always easy to decide what fuels to use, as each has advantages and disadvantages.
Gas, for instance, is extremely reliable while wind is renewable. But what are we to do if gas stocks run low or if the wind fails to blow? How can we reliably match the constantly fluctuating demand with supply in order to ensure that the lights stay on and energy remains affordable? Each choice comes with a price tag. These were the key issues we faced in 2010, which will no doubt continue to pose plenty of challenges in the future.
