Global Reporting Initiative
Guideline for corporate sustainability reporting
In determining the information to be included in its Sustainability Report, Nuon follows the guidelines of the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI), which is the global guideline for corporate sustainability reporting.
In October 2006, GRI published the new generation of guidelines: GRI G3. These replace GRI G2, which Nuon had previously followed since they were first published in 2002. GRI G3 reflects worldwide developments in sustainability by placing more emphasis on stakeholder involvement and product responsibility.
Energy Utilities Sector Supplement
GRI is currently working on a supplement to the G3 guidelines that is specifically designed for the energy sector. This supplement is expected to be published in the summer of 2007. As a result of our experience in reporting, we are playing an active role in the working party advising GRI on this supplement.
