May 29, 2008 | Amsterdam Nuon sponsored run for Stichting de Regenboogboom

The Nuon Regenboogboom Sponsored Run started at 16.00 on Thursday 29 May on the Nuon site at the Spaklerweg in Amsterdam. For two hours the runners, all of them Nuon employees, did their best to achieve as large a sum as possible for Stichting de Regenboogboom. More than 150 runners took part, running 1900 kilometres between them. The runners were supported by 1,000 sponsors, both colleagues and external business partners, and a sum of 67,000 Euro was collected.
The sponsored run was a hot topic for several months in all the departments of Nuon. Colleagues did battle with each other and tried every day to take the lead in the sponsorship score by finding new sponsors to support them. All sorts of people took part in the competition, from young to old. Even the new top man Øystein Løseth joined in the race and contributed 10 euro for every lap completed by each runner.
About Stichting de Regenboogboom
‘A little girl in England was very sick. She had a dream about a wonderful forest full of rainbows - a forest in which she was totally happy and where she could forget that she was sick. When she woke up, she found that the forest really existed, in her thoughts. And that she could go there whenever she wanted...’

Volunteers from the Regenboogboom Foundation visit sick children such as that little girl and help them to believe in their dreams and fantasies again. Nuon has a soft spot for this foundation, which is why Miranda Baas and the trainee pool 2007 organised the Nuon Regenboogboom Sponsored Run.
