Dec 03, 2008 | Amsterdam Announcement Council of State
Today the Council of State made an announcement about the license under the Environmental Management Act (WM) for the construction of the Nuon Magnum power plant.
Most of the objections were declared unfounded, including objections in the domain of CO2 emissions, visual disturbance and noise pollution. The license was denied on four grounds. We expect these points to be remedied in the shortest possible time. Nuon wants to resume construction as soon as possible.
Nuon Magnum will make a substantial contribution to securing the future energy supply in the Netherlands through the use of multiple fuels. This will reduce our dependence on a single type of fuel. Moreover, the applied technology will enable us to respond flexibly to the fluctuating availability of sources such as wind energy.
