Aug 25, 2009 | Amsterdam Nuon Solar Team is on its way to Australia
The Nuon Solar Team left for Australia on Monday evening, waved off by family and friends. Nuna5 preceded the team last Friday. The team accompanied Nuna5 right to the hold of the freight aircraft.
In the weeks ahead the team will prepare for the World Solar Challenge. During this race more than thirty solar-powered vehicles will drive 3,000 kilometres across Australia. The race begins in Darwin on 25 October and ends in Adelaide on 28 October. With Nuna5 the Nuon Solar Team is battling to win the coveted trophy for the fifth time.
The Nuon Solar Team is not sitting back in the build-up to the race. The team members will use the period between arrival in Australia and the race to work on the strategy and to acclimatise themselves to the conditions and to drive on Australian highways. During that time the team can be followed on its own website, hyves and twitter.
