Mar 01, 2010 | Amsterdam Nuon applies for SDE subsidy for offshore wind farm

Nuon today submitted its application for a subsidy under the SDE scheme for offshore wind farms. In 2005 Nuon started preparations for the Beaufort wind farm (around 340 MW) 30 kilometres off the coast of Zuid-Holland. Nuon believes that with this project it has a good chance of getting the subsidy, which will be necessary for the realisation of the wind farm.
The SDE scheme is open to parties that have a Wbr (Public Works Act) permit for a wind farm in the Dutch part of the North Sea. Nuon obtained this permit in November 2009. The Ministry of Economic Affairs will announce this summer which projects will be granted a subsidy.
By investing in wind energy Nuon support’s the cabinet target of installing 6000 MW off shore by 2020 at the latest. Nuon’s ambition is to develop a total of 1400 MW of wind energy by 2020.
