Nuon has reached an agreement with the green electricity producers Electrawinds and Aspiravi for a swap involving the Nuon shares in the VLEEMO joint venture. Electrawinds and Aspiravi will each acquire 50 per cent of VLEEMO. In exchange, Nuon will take over 'Les Eoliennes de Perwez', a wind farm owned by Electrawinds and Aspiravi in Walloon Brabant.

VLEEMO stands for Vlaamse Ecologie Energie Milieu Onderneming and was set up to develop wind turbines in the port of Antwerp. VLEEMO currently has seven operational wind turbines on the right bank of the river Maas (15 MW). By taking over the shares of Nuon in VLEEMO Electrawinds and Aspiravi will each become 50 per cent owner of the turbines and the associated development portfolio. The remaining shares in VLEEMO remain in the hands of Polders Investeringsfonds.

In exchange, it has been agreed that Nuon will take over full ownership of the wind farm of Electrawinds and Aspiravi in Perwez. The wind farm, known as 'Les Eoliennes de Perwez', has three turbines (4.5 MW) and has been in operation since 2006.

By making this swap, Nuon, which has been active for 25 years in the wind energy sector and has extensive knowledge of and experience in the realisation and management of wind farms, confirms its presence on the market for renewable energy production in Belgium. At the same time, Nuon underlines its ambition to develop and operate both onshore and offshore projects in Belgium and to become a climate neutral business by 2050.
