Apr 29, 2010 | Amsterdam Nuon new name for WEOM

With effect from 1 May the name WEOM is to be changed to Nuon Wind. For more than ten years Wind Energie Ontwikkelings Maatschappij, WEOM B.V., which develops and manages wind farms in the Netherlands and Belgium, has been part of energy company Nuon. The legal entity is to be changed from WEOM B.V. to Nuon Wind Development B.V.
Initially WEOM operated independently on the European wind energy market, but in the course of time the renewable wind energy activities of WEOM and Nuon have steadily integrated. At the beginning of 2007 the wind energy activities of Nuon and WEOM merged into a single organisation. This expressed itself from the WEOM side in the qualification 'part of Nuon'.
For reasons of brand awareness, image and practical considerations the decision was made to change the name WEOM and henceforward to use the name Nuon for all the wind energy activities.
