Windturbine

Last week the first pile was driven as the construction of the Oom Kees wind farm started. This small wind farm operated by Nuon in the Wieringermeer comprises two turbines with a capacity of 3 MW each.

First of all a concrete foundation is to be laid for the two turbines. The foundation is expected to be ready at the end of July. The installation of the wind turbines themselves can then start after the construction industry holiday. The turbines are scheduled to supply power at the end of the year.

The two wind turbines form the link between the two current rows of turbines in the wind farm Waterkaaptocht wind farm. The production of this wind farm is expected to be 15 million kWh per year. Assuming an average consumption of 3,400 kWh per household per year, this farm will supply green power to around 4,411 households.

Oom Kees wind farm is a joint project of Nuon and seven farmers. Nuon, in partnership with 27 farmers, has already installed more than 60 MW of wind energy in the Wieringermeer.
