Teijin Aramid BV, the largest customer of Nuon Industry Park Emmtec and a producer of industrial fibres, is going to expand its production activities in the second half of 2011. Nuon Industry Park Emmtec will benefit in the form of more sales and an even stronger long-term customer relationship.

The Board of Directors of Teijin in Japan has decided to invest “several millions” in starting up the commercial production of a new product: high performance polyethene (HP-PE). In making this move, Teijin is entering a new market. HP-PE is an ultra-strong fibre used in e.g. cables and bullet-proof vests.

Extra product sales

Besides hiring extra square metres at the industry park, the company will also purchase various energy-related products such as power and steam. Teijin expects to increase the production staff at the park with several tens of employees.

Emmtec in facilitating role

Ivo Verdonkschot, Director of Industry Parks at Nuon: “We are delighted with Teijin Aramid’s choice to make the new product in Emmen. It further reinforces our long-term partnership with our most important customer on the site. We have immediately worked out several proposals to support the arrival of the new activity in Emmen. The extra utilities that Teijin Aramid requires can be supported by Emmtec with existing assets, including the combined heat power plant.”
