Nuon and Tata not responsible for iron particles

Two surveys by the independent energy consultancy KEMA have failed to demonstrate that either Nuon or Tata Steel is responsible for the iron particles that fell in the period of 26 – 30 August 2010 on parts of Velsen, Beverwijk and Heemskerk. The companies have sent a letter to the residents concerned informing them that for this reason they will not be paying any compensation.

At the request of the two companies, KEMA carried out extensive research in the last few months, using a wide range of research techniques. As all possible methods of investigation have been used, it has been decided not to start a third survey. The two companies are aware that this is unwelcome news for those concerned.

Nuon & Tata advises the affected parties to contact their insurance company.
