Restoration work in full swing

Dec 13, 2007 | Amsterdam Restoration work in the 'rivierengebied' area of Gelderland in full swing

On Wednesday 12 December at around 19.30 an Apache helicopter flew into a high-voltage cable during a training flight. This occurred near the village of Hurwenen in the province of Gelderland, which is Continuon territory. Around 50,000 homes are without electricity.

The operation to restore the high-voltage connection is in full swing. Large equipment such as cranes is being used but restoration work is being hampered by the strong current and high water in the River Waal.

The municipality of Maasdriel has set up a dedicated information telephone line for residents of the affected area on the number 0344 637500. Further information is available by clicking on the relevant links on the right of this page. As soon as more reports are received, they will be posted here.
