Because of the developments on the global oil and gas markets it is becoming increasingly important for business customers to think hard about the type of energy contract they takes on. Dutch energy company Nuon predicts that its business customers will require more and more tailor-made advice and has geared its gas supplies accordingly – there are now three variants: Comfort, Flexibel and Expert.
It is becoming ever more important to control the cost of energy consumption, especially gas. In the first half of the year the price of gas on the global market rose by 60% in comparison with the same period in 2007. The global price rise is reflected in the gas price (and indirectly in the electricity price) that business users have to pay. Price fluctuations on the global market are unavoidable, but Nuon offers business customers the chance to decide under what conditions they want to have their gas delivered. Customised gas, as it were.
No two companies are the same
Nuon understands that no two companies are the same. The degree of dependence on gas, the available knowledge in the field of energy and the degree of security required by a customer differ from one company to another. By offering a unique service, which can best be described as ‘gas op maat’ (customised gas), Nuon is able to respond to the many different company profiles. Nuon’s customers can choose from several types of contract for gas supply.
Tailor made contracts
Customers that want security rather than having to worry about their gas purchases will get tailor-made advice based on historical consumption. They will pay a fixed monthly amount whereby there is no charge for excess consumption. Customers that wish to monitor their gas consumption themselves and thereby save costs will also have a contract suited to their needs – they can set their own contract capacity. So customers can choose several different forms of supply, from peace of mind to total control.Nuon Gas op Maat is available for the wholesale market from 1 September.
