Nuon launches the Dutch energy savings website

Build your own virtual house and save up to €585 annually

Apr 20, 2010 | Amsterdam Nuon launches the Dutch energy savings website

Nuon today launches the first energy savings website where users can build their own virtual house in 3D and thereby discover how to save energy quickly and simply. The updated Nuon wastage check shows how this can easily amount to €585 a year. Online energy advice shows exactly how much can be saved and where. Twenty-six instruction videos then demonstrate how that saving is to be realised. Everyone can get started free of charge on www.nuonenergiebesparen.nl.

On the online platform users can simulate their own house. When they walk through the 3D rooms and click on the hotspots, they can see clearly where savings can be made. An easy-to-use step-by-step plan helps the users on their way. Twenty-six different instruction videos show users how they can apply energy-saving measures. Users can also go with their questions to a special online savings team. The new Nuon wastage check is designed to make energy saving easier and more fun.

Everyone needs such a tool, confirms energy adviser Rob van der Plas. ‘Every day I come across people in my work that would like to save energy because it’s a major monthly expense. The only thing is that they don’t want to spend too much time on it. All they really want is concrete advice that applies to their own situation. They have the feeling that they can make a lot of savings but they have no idea how much and where to start.’

Everyone can do the new Nuon wastage check free of charge on www.nuonenergiebesparen.nl. Additionally, customers of Nuon can use the platform to keep track of how much they have already saved, in euros and kilowatt hours.
