    Nuon, onderdeel van Vattenfall Group, heeft het investeringsbesluit genomen om een nieuwe gascentrale te bouwen naast de bestaande elektriciteitscentrale in Diemen. Tegelijk wordt een warmtetransportleiding van Diemen naar Almere aangelegd om met de restwarmte huizen te verwarmen. Door de combinatie van het hoogst haalbare rendement voor de gascentrale en grootschalige warmtelevering aan Amsterdam en Almere kan een rendement van 85% worden behaald.

  • July 29, 2010| Amsterdam- Nuon posts profit of EUR 269 million; margins under pressure

    Profit for the first half of 2010 rose compared with the first half of 2009, mainly because of higher sales of gas as a result of the cold winter, sharp cost reductions and incidental items. Margins on electricity production were under pressure during the first half of the year due to weak demand for electricity as a result of the economic crisis. The margin on electricity sales was lower because the sales price for electricity fell faster than the contracted purchase price. The number of customers in the Netherlands fell slightly compared with last year but this decrease was offset by 12% growth in the number of customers in Belgium. Nuon invested considerably more in new power stations and renewable energy in the first half year.

  • June 21, 2010| Amsterdam- Nuon opens Almere solar island on first day of summer

    On the longest day of the year and the beginning of the summer, Monday 21 June, Nuon officially opens the solar island in Almere. The solar island comprises 520 solar collectors with a total surface area of 7,000 m2. These collectors capture the heat of the sun and heat cold water to a temperature of 70 degrees Celsius, thereby providing heating to 2,700 homes in the adjacent new residential district Noorderplassen West.

  • May 26, 2010| Amsterdam- Nuon opens cooling station in Amsterdam

    Today Nuon opened a new sustainable cooling station in the “Amsterdam Zuidoost” district, which makes use of the cold water in the nearby Ouderkerkerplas Lake. Thanks to the cooling station, connected offices and buildings can now replace their traditional cooling equipment with this natural energy source, leading to a CO2 reduction of up to 75%. After the ‘Amsterdam Zuidas’ business district, Amsterdam Zuidoost is now the second district in the Netherlands to embrace this environmentally-friendly form of cooling. Nuon is the first energy company in the Netherlands to use this technology to provide buildings with comfortable cooling energy.

    Nuon today launches the first energy savings website where users can build their own virtual house in 3D and thereby discover how to save energy quickly and simply. The updated Nuon wastage check shows how this can easily amount to €585 a year. Online energy advice shows exactly how much can be saved and where. Twenty-six instruction videos then demonstrate how that saving is to be realised. Everyone can get started free of charge on www.nuonenergiebesparen.nl.

  • April 16, 2010| Amsterdam- Nuon replaces production capacity Hemweg location

    Nuon has taken the investment decision for realisation of a new gas-fired power plant, Hemweg 9, at its existing Hemweg production location in Amsterdam. To this end, Nuon and Siemens have signed an engineering, procurement and construction contract and a long-term maintenance contract. The new power plant will replace the old gas-fired power plant Hemweg 7. Hemweg 9 incorporates the latest techniques is very efficient and environmentally friendly.
