September 29, 2008| Amsterdam- Nuon starts preparing for the construction of an efficient power plant in Seneffe, Belgium
Nuon plans to build a modern gas-fired power plant to the north-west of Charleroi, Belgium. Today the contractor that will carry out the preparatory work on the site at Seneffe was chosen. In 2009 Nuon expects to get the licences it needs to start the construction of the power plant.

September 22, 2008| Amsterdam- Nuon and Dutch Army National Reserve in joint exercise ‘Without Power’
Between now and 13 October more than 100 servicemen will take part in a joint exercise arranged by the Dutch Army National Reserve and Nuon at the power plant and the high-voltage transformer station at the Hemweg in Amsterdam. In the exercise, known as ‘Without Power’, the authorities have decided to make the electricity supply in the capital extra secure. In ‘Without Power’ this task has been delegated to the Charlie Company of 20Natres battalion, which has its barracks in Amsterdam.

September 15, 2008| Waardenburg- Nuon to supply gas to health care institutions
On 15 September Purchasing consortium Intrakoop and Nuon concluded a substantial contract for the supply of gas to health care institutions at more than 1,800 locations. Intrakoop awarded Nuon the contract following a competitive tender issued by Intrakoop. Deliveries start on 1 January 2010 and run until 1 January 2013, with an option to extend twice by one year. The volume for this three-year contract is more than 250 million cubic metres of gas. As a result of this tender the participating members of Intrakoop will get a considerable discount on the commodity price and national transport costs.

September 08, 2008| Amsterdam- Renewable cooling improves water quality of Ouderkerkerplas
Nuon is going to provide buildings in Amsterdam ‘Zuidoost’ with renewable cooling. Now that the Water Board of Amstel, Gooi en Vecht has given permission to use water from the ‘Ouderkerkerplas’, Nuon can start up the operation in 2009. The use of the Ouderkerkerplas as a natural source of cooling not only leads to a CO2 reduction of 75% (18,500 tons per year) but also improves the water quality of the lake.

September 04, 2008| Amsterdam- Nuon helps Icova achieve efficient energy management
Smart energy management pays. With the assistance of Nuon, waste processing company Icova has put its energy use under the microscope and improved its energy management. Thanks to online monitoring of its gas consumption, re-use of heat and the use of combined heat and power stations, Icova now uses less gas and generates its own energy. The company is thus saving hundreds of thousands of euros on its gas bill, with the added bonus of a 10% reduction in its CO2 emissions.

Because of the developments on the global oil and gas markets it is becoming increasingly important for business customers to think hard about the type of energy contract they takes on. Dutch energy company Nuon predicts that its business customers will require more and more tailor-made advice and has geared its gas supplies accordingly – there are now three variants: Comfort, Flexibel and Expert.

August 21, 2008| Amsterdam- Constructors of Nuon Magnum to be housed in project hotel
During the construction of the Nuon Magnum power plant the contractors’ staff will be housed in a temporary accommodation to be built in the vicinity of Eemshaven, in the province of Groningen. Following a European tender for building this temporary accommodation Nuon plans to place the order with Van der Wiel/Van der Valk. This building consortium has developed a plan to build it at Groot Bronswijk in Wagenborgen, in the municipality of Delfzijl.
