Organisation of Corporate Social Responsibility
Nuon aspires a prominent position in corporate social responsibility (hereinafter known as CSR). To achieve this, the CSR department encourages and facilitates CSR initiatives and developments within the Nuon Group as a whole.
Responsibility at corporate level
CSR is a fundamental starting point in determining the strategy of the divisions. The framework for this is set at group level. The CSR department has the following tasks:
- Highlight CSR issues within the organisation as a context for the business policy;
- Make Nuon’s CSR results measurable and transparent;
- Initiate and facilitate projects that make CSR a tangible part of our business activities;
- Support activities in order to communicate Nuon’s commitment to the wider world;
- Internal and external communication on CSR policy, projects and results.
Sustainability strategy of business units
Nuon employs quantifiable parameters to control both its financial and CSR performance. The parameters used to monitor the sustainability performance have been translated into performance indicators and related objectives. Progress is regularly reported on and discussed with the Board of Management. In order to underline the importance of the CSR performance, the Board of Management decided in 2007 to assign the Corporate Responsibility Report equal status with the financial annual report.
