Management Board

The Management Board is in charge of the legal entity N.V. Nuon Energy. Key responsibilities of the Management Board include achieving Nuon Energy’s objectives, strategy and policy, including the related financial targets.

The Management Board is also responsible for ensuring compliance with all relevant laws and regulations, for the management of risks related to Nuon Energy’s business activities and for financing the business. In addition, the Management Board is responsible together with the Supervisory Board, for Nuon Energy’s corporate governance structure

Joint responsibility

The Management Board is jointly responsible for the management of Nuon Energy. Within this joint responsibility, each member of the Management Board has their specific tasks and fields of attention based on an internal allocation of duties. In discharging its role, the Management Board is guided by the interests of the company and its subsidiaries, while giving careful consideration to the interests of all stakeholders.

Members of the Management Board 

Peter Smink (1965)

is Chief Executive and Financial Officer of Nuon Energy as of 27 November 2013. He is responsible for both the general and financial management of Nuon. 

Career

Peter Smink has been a member of the Management Board and Chief Financial Officer of Nuon since 1 January 2010. In 2001 he joined N.V. Nuon and held several management positions, mainly financial related. Prior to joining Nuon, Peter Smink held various management positions at KPN and PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).

Peter Smink is a member of the Supervisory Board of Foundation Rural Energy Services (FRES) and of Yellow & Blue Clean Energy Investments B.V. In addition he is a board member at Vereniging Energie-Nederland. 

Peter Smink has the Dutch nationality.

Martijn Hagens (1971)

is Chief Operational Officer of Nuon Energy as of 1 January 2014. He is responsible for the operational and commercial activities of Nuon and – more specifically – for the activities of Sales, Heat, Production, Trading and Renewables in the Netherlands. As of 1 April 2015 Martijn Hagens is also responsible for the Business Area Customer& Solutions of Vattenfall AB.

Career

In 2003 Martijn Hagens joined N.V. Nuon and held several management positions, including Head of Nuon Customer Care Center, Head of Nuon IT and Program Director of the Nuon unbundling. From 2010 until the end of 2013 he was Head of Customer Service of Vattenfall. During 2014 he was responsible for the Business Unit Heat of the Business Region Continental /UK of Vattenfall AB. Prior to joining Nuon, Martijn Hagens held a management position at Accenture.

Martijn Hagens has the Dutch nationality.
