For our Civil and Structure department in Engineering within Business Area Wind, we are looking for a Lead Engineer Supply Chain to be the driver for our relationship activities towards our suppliers for foundation works.
The Civil and Structure department is the competence center for all foundation design and manufacturing related aspects of a wind farm, supplying cradle to cradle services, technical competences and project management all under one roof. We build on continuous improvement and entrepreneurial mind-set in order to set the standard for future wind foundations.
Your job as Lead Engineer Supply Chain
As our Lead Engineer Supply Chain you will become a key member of our department. Your main responsibility will be focused on the technical supply chain relationship. Thereby, you will work together with the Category Manager for Foundations as our speaking tube to the supplier-landscape for offshore foundation works and will support her/him as technical expert with your technical knowhow.
In your role as being the single point of contact in all technical related aspects you need to be able to identify the market players and the capabilities within. In addition to capture our actions within our product development area and to get this aligned on a feasibility level for the manufacturing of the components. You will form the bridge between the internal design and engineering group and the supplier market in both ways. Furthermore, the main responsibilities include:
- Assess and elaborate the technical capabilities of our supplier landscape for main components within the foundation fabrication
- Assure integration of HSE and Quality requirements
- Identifying key areas of optimization both site specific and on general level
- Interact with suppliers on potential optimizations to strengthen their output rates
- Review the foundation design and ensure alignment across all fabrication disciplines
- Engage in the development of the optimized future foundation structure
Your profile as Lead Engineer Supply Chain
You have a solid understanding of the manufacturing for offshore foundation structures. Bring the ability to see things from the helicopter perspective and can advise and help based on your knowledge and knowhow. You have an innovative mind-set and can see yourself working in an environment where we value entrepreneurship, the pragmatic approach and helpfulness in our daily work.
You can work self-dependent while sharing and seeking knowledge in the team. You show initiative and have a flexible approach to your work. You possess excellent interpersonal skills and can communicate technical messages on a clear and constructive way both internally and to external partners and suppliers. You are result-oriented and meet required deadlines. In addition, the following qualifications are important for this position:
- B.Sc or M.Sc degree in civil/ mechanical engineering, naval architecture or equivalent
- More than 5 years of experience within the process of steel fabrication of renewables
- Have experience with executing at least one, but preferable more foundation fabrications of offshore wind farms either as Steel Expert within the project organization or Project Manager
- Experienced with norms and codes such as e.g. EN, DNV, ISO, API and EC, Norsok.
- IWE and/or Frosio level preferred
- Project management experience such as IMPA level D or equivalent preferred
- You are fluent in English, both in speech and writing
- Experience with monopile/ transition piece and/or jacket production preferred
Office can either be Hamburg, Kolding or London but occasional travel within northern Europe should be expected.

Business Area Wind is responsible for Vattenfall’s Onshore and Offshore Wind as well as other non-hydro Renewable activities like solar PV and batteries. Today we develop, construct and operate wind generation in Sweden, Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands and the UK. In addition, we have a clear strategy to develop our solar PV and battery operations further.
Business Unit Offshore is responsible to manage and operate all Offshore wind parks as well as Offshore wind projects with regards to development, construction and execution within the Region Continental/UK.
